Our Osteopaths

We’re lucky to have fantastic osteopaths at our clinic.  Their training involved a minimum 4-year degree course at the University College of Osteopathy encompassing a thorough academic education and over 1000 hours of clinical practice in the student clinic.  They are all registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Hollie Carter MOst MA(Oxon) PgACE

Hollie is an osteopath who helps people recover from pain and injury and return to feeling like themselves again. She is known for her reassurance, considered approach and ability to put patients at ease — particularly when pain has been ongoing or complex.

She qualified from the British School of Osteopathy with distinction, and was awarded the Prize for Clinical Excellence in her final examinations. Since graduating, Hollie has worked across a variety of clinical settings and has been leading our sister clinic, West Dulwich Osteopaths, since 2014.

Before training as an osteopath, Hollie completed a degree in Physiology, giving her a strong understanding of how the body works and how different systems interact. She enjoys helping patients make sense of their symptoms and treatment, so they feel informed, confident, and supported throughout their recovery.

Hollie is especially good for:

  • Persistent or recurring pain

  • Back and neck pain

  • Patients who value clear explanations and reassurance

  • Those looking for an experienced, steady approach

Hollie takes a calm, thoughtful, and individualised approach to care, tailoring treatment plans to each person’s needs and goals. Her focus is always on helping patients move forward with confidence and return to daily life with less pain and greater ease.

Sofia Healey MOst

Sofia is an osteopath who specialises in helping people get out of pain with confidence, move better and feel stronger. She takes a calm, thoughtful approach and is particularly well suited to patients who want to understand their bodies and make long-term improvements — not just short-term relief.

She graduated from the University College of Osteopathy with distinction and combines hands-on osteopathic treatment with her background as a Yoga, Pilates and Mobility instructor, as well as a Deep Tissue Sports Massage therapist. This allows Sofia to tailor treatment and rehab plans that are practical, effective, and easy to follow.

Sofia is an especially good choice for:

  • Back and neck pain

  • Desk-related and postural pain

  • Persistent or recurring pain

  • Recovery after injury

  • Patients who want guided rehabilitation and movement support

Patients often appreciate Sofia’s clear explanations, confidence, and personalised care, particularly if they are new to osteopathy or feeling cautious after previous injuries.

Before retraining as an osteopath, Sofia spent over a decade working in the financial sector and has also balanced the demands of motherhood. These experiences have shaped her empathetic, realistic approach to treatment — especially for busy people managing work, stress, and family life alongside pain or injury.

Sofia speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French, and enjoys working with patients from a wide range of backgrounds.

Mariana Bakewell MOst MSc Sports Medicine

Mariana is an experienced osteopath who helps adults reduce pain, recover from injury, and return to the activities they love — whether that’s getting through the workday comfortably or performing at a high physical level.

She has a particular interest in treating headaches, jaw (TMJ) pain, neck and back pain, as well as aches and tension linked to desk-based work, stress, and posture. Mariana also works extensively with sports and endurance athletes, including runners and cyclists, supporting both injury recovery and performance.

Mariana graduated from the University College of Osteopathy and also holds a Master’s degree in Sports & Exercise Medicine from Queen Mary’s University of London. Her advanced training allows her to combine hands-on osteopathic treatment with clear, evidence-based advice and rehabilitation strategies.

Mariana is especially good choice for:

  • Headaches and jaw (TMJ) pain

  • Neck and back pain

  • Desk-related pain and tension

  • Sports injuries and endurance training issues

  • Musicians, dancers, and physically demanding professions

Alongside her clinical practice, Mariana is deeply involved in osteopathic education. She works as a Practice Educator at the UCO student clinic, teaches osteopathic technique at the London School of Osteopathy, and is a guest lecturer and examiner at QMUL. Patients often find reassurance in her depth of knowledge and calm, supportive manner.

Mariana takes a compassionate, individualised approach, tailoring treatment and management plans to each person’s goals. She is committed to helping patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their recovery.
